Take your business elsewhere, too. There are a ridiculous number of cards out there and some companies are better than others. If you've been a "good" customer (charged lots, pay on time...) you are in a great position. First, your current company doesn't want to lose you, so voice your displeasure. If they don't give you what you think you deserve, move on.

Heres a list of cards i learned to not use:
American express
Bank of america
Citibank, citigroup
I am rebuilding now by only using Capitol One and disputing errors from bank of america. They are sloppy with communications. Canada doesnt do these things bc they have solutions to attain customers! I just hope all the mistakes on my report will be eventually fixed.

Hey, your "how to protest" link is dead. I was looking forward to that one. I never really thought about going to such extremes to get the credit card companies to listen but this IS the U.S. and we have a right, right? Thanks for the article. It was informative. I DO want to wait to see what these new laws will do, exactly. I've been having so many credit issues. I actually had to hire someone to get rid of a few mistakes on my credit report (http://www.icreditinc.com). It worked out but I'm having so many preventable (on the business' part) mistakes and money issues thanks to these businesses, I'm losing my mind.

Sadly, I kind of agree with you on that one. But I still think it's better to let them know you're not happy.

congress was paid off by the credit card companies. that's why the bankruptcy laws were changed in 2005 in favor of the card companies at the expense of the card users. The only way to fight back is not use credit cards. Now it's nearly impossible for someone drowning in debt to get a fresh start. The credit card companies made sure of this. The feds won't fix our problems, they are the problem.
