Well, I am very pleased with Visa. I checked up on my claim twice, just to make sure I was still in the system. They said it would take up to 5 business days; and on the 5th business day I received "the call". The pleasant Visa rep I talked to told me that they had used the technical specs of my TV to shop for a comparable TV. She told me the make & model of the comp, and that it could be purchased for $599 at a big box store. She said they would do a "buy out" and send me the $599 + tax + the $65 I paid for the estimate on my TV. I can use that money to put toward a new TV (or whatever). So, I'll be receiving a check for about $700 within 7-14 business days. She also said to put the new TV on the Visa and the warranty starts all over again. If I ever get around to replacing / upsizing the TV (the green line isn't THAT bad), I will definitely be putting it on the Visa. I really couldn't be happier with Visa. Especially since I just found out about this extended warranty and even it was about to expire (I got my claim in 7 days before it would have expired).

I am in the process of filing a claim with Visa. My LCD TV got a crazy green line down the side and the manufacturer's warranty was for 1 year. I've had it almost 2 years. I didn't even know about the Visa extended warranty until I was reading a buying guide on Consumer Report's web site. I had not previously registered my TV, but you can still file a claim. I have since faxed all the required paperwork (thank goodness I'm a pack rat - I even had the credit card statement!) and I am awaiting "the call". The TV is sitting at the repair shop with an estimate of $1093 - I only paid $1200 for the TV. I'm hoping I can just get the money and buy a new (bigger) TV. I'll let you know how it ends. Great article - I'm telling everyone I know about this extended warranty, and most people have no idea.
