Weekly Round Up
So I’m headed to Sea World this weekend for my company’s annual picnic and I’m taking my sister and my 3-year old nephew with me. The weather is supposed to be super nice and I love getting to spend some time with friends and family in a fun place. What are y’alls plans this weekend?
Well, I know one thing you should do! Read some of these awesome posts I’ve got gathered here! Good stuff, as always!
- Kelly @ Almost Frugal talked about college and money this week. It’s exam time here (I got all As, thank goodness…and special thanks again to Jonathan for giving me time to study…he’s the best boss ever!), which also means it’s time to renew the financial aid application for the 2009/2010 school year. Kelly’s post reminded me that I hadn’t done that yet, but she also points out there are other ways to pay for school. Be sure to check it out and offer up your tips to us poor college students!
- Nicole @ Breaking Even talks about online dating. It’s not really as bad as everyone makes it seem, and they have free sites…Nicole even met her most recent beau on one! So check out her tips and give it go! Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
- Patrick @ Cash Money Life asks whether you should contribute to a 401(k) without employer match. The short answer…yes. Without the match, I’d say you could reduce your contribution levels if you need to when money is short, but you have to save for retirement. Social Security is not likely to be an option, and even if it is, it probably won’t be enough to live on! Take care of number one.
- SVB @ The Digerati Life has an awesome post on the true cost of paying just the minimums on your credit card. Nicely done, SVB! And great info, do check it out!
- FruGal busts out some tips on redecorating on a tight budget. I need a makeover in my home as well, so these came at an opportune time! Read the article and add some tips! Inquiring minds wanna know!
- Living Almost Large blogged about partnering with neighbors in order to save money. It’s an interesting concept and one that definitely works in most cases. I tried this for the Sam’s Club card though and I didn’t really save. So, my advice is to look at the cost-benefit analysis for both options and go with the cheaper. Still, LAL got a great deal, so check it out!
- J. Money @ Budgets are $exy is a big ol’ goofball, you know this! LOL, still love you J. But, he’s got a great post (ahem, chain e-mail) on the financial situation in terms we can all understand and relate to. So, if you’re confused about why things are the way they are, read J’s post….should clear that right up for you!
- Kevin @ No Debt Plan talks about identifying and avoiding online scams. For the love of Pete! Do yourself and your financial institution a favor and read this article…oh, and please stop giving out your account number to complete strangers. Seriously, don’t do that.
- Trent @ The Simple Dollar discussed how being a control freak costs you money. I forward this post to my mom…hehehe.
Alright, you guys have a great weekend and enjoy the posts!
Happy Reading!

This is true! I am a wily one at times ;) Thx for the shout out – hitting up some of these others on the list now.
Thanks for the mention. :)
Thank you, thank you! Great list as always! :) Always glad to make it. I love the redecorating article. I’m a sucker for room and home designs…
