Weekly Round Up

Submitted by Kristy on April 17, 2009 – 10:22 pm3 Comments

I don’t really have anything witty or interesting to say here, so I’m just going to jump into the round up. It’s been a long week and I’m ready to get some sleep. But, hope everyone enjoys today’s selection for your viewing pleasure!

- Dawn @ Fighting Foreclosure wrote about finding the perfect cookbook. It was a great post with some good tips…if you use cookbooks, which I rarely do. Cookbooks are a little like paint by number, they serve their purpose, but I like to create my own works of art!

- Patrick @ Cash Money Life clues us in on why the MBA isn’t in his plans anymore. I liked this post a lot because it reminds us that we may start our financial path in one direction and end up somewhere else completely before all is said and done. This is why it’s important to reevaluate your goals.

- Joseph @ Debit vs. Credit talks about starting on the road to building wealth. He’s decided there are four key areas that we should focus on in order to build our wealth; and, while none of them are particularly difficult per se, they do require sacrifice sometimes. Good stuff!

- SVB @ The Digerati Life blogged about swapping your home instead of waiting to sell it. I hadn’t heard of this concept until I read SVB’s post, but man! What a concept! I haven’t looked into all the logistics of it, but I think it’s awesome people are taking the matter into their own hands and working these deals instead of waiting for the economy to fix itself. I’d be interested to hear stories from anyone that’s done this.

- FB @ Fabulously Broke in the City snuck a good one in today that I really enjoyed about women and their money. It’s unfortunate that women get a bad rap for being big spenders when I think men are just as guilty when it comes to their toys. But, in all honesty, I don’t think it’s a gender thing at all. I think it’s about financial education. Check out FBs post and chime in!

- Laura @  five cent nickel gives some great advice on handling marriage and money talks. The readers had some great advice, too! Be sure to check it out!

- Broke Grad Student asks readers what percentage of their salary do they save. It’s a great reminder that we should be paying ourselves first, but despite our best intentions, we end up spending the money. BGS recommends automating it so you don’t see the money…I’m inclined to agree.

- Trent @ The Simple Dollar talks about the art of the apology. There is definitely a right way and a wrong way to apologize to someone…Trent explains both.

There you have it! As always, lots of good stuff out there for all to enjoy. Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Happy Reading!

@ Broke Grad – Thank you! And you’re most welcome.

@ FB – I was actually debating between this one and the home office one because I liked it so much, but I’d seen the other one on another round up so I thought I’d spread the love a little more. ;) Link love is good! I’m glad Jonathan let’s me do it every week.
