Weekly Round Up

Submitted by on April 10, 2009 – 8:32 pm6 Comments

So, Jonathan and I are changing up the schedule a little bit and one thing to change is the round up. I’ll be posting it on Fridays from now on, which I think is better anyway since it gives you the whole weekend to read the great stuff out there. So, on that note, let’s get to the good stuff!

- Kelly @ Almost Frugal has a great series going right now called ‘Back to the Frugal Basics.’ This week’s post was related to controlling your spending, and Kelly gives some great tips on how to do just that.

- Richard @ Blue Jeans Millionaire took a funny stab at Obama firing GM’s CEO. I’m with Richard on most of this…I definitely missed the part where the constitution gives the Prez the right to fire a private company CEO.

- Patrick @ Cash Money Life has a guest post about how much life insurance you need. This is a great post, and I encourage everyone to take a look because I am constantly finding people don’t have enough insurance when something happens.

- FruGal talked about the benefits of Twitter this week. We’ve all come to know the joys of Twitter, though I don’t use it as much as I should. Still, if you’re on the fence about it, take a look at FruGal’s post. It has some good information.

- Lazy Man and Money gave tips to help those about to pop the question save some money on the diamond. To be honest, I’m not big into diamonds, so most of the specific stuff was gibberish to me. I have no idea what clarity means and how to tell the difference. Makes me strange, I know. But, LM’s post will give you some ways to save money if you’re in the market.

- J. Money @ Budgets are $exy talked about Warren Buffett <> on his blog this week. There were some interesting facts, which if all of them are true, makes Buffett a cool guy indeed. Check it out!

- five cent nickel blogged about protecting yourself from identity theft and email scams. Please….do yourself a favor and take a look. These thieves are getting relentless and they’re trying different ways to stay a step ahead. Learn to protect yourself.

- DD @ The Happy Rock asks whether carrying big bills can save you money. I think there is something on the psychology of it. If I carry big bills, I spend less than if I just have $20s. Interesting thoughts!

- Frugal Dad offers six tips on simplifying your life <>. I’m loving his tips! Be sure you check them out.

- Trent @ The Simple Dollar has a great post called ‘Weekday Misery, Weekend Pleasure’. This is so me! While I like finance and the opportunity to help people, my company is going more and more to a sales environment, which I’m not liking at all. This has lead me to feelings of dissatisfaction. Of course, I’m like Ralph in Trent’s story in that I know what makes me happy. Now I just need to figure out how to make money at it full-time!

And there you have it. It’s a short and sweet list this week as I’m going to fall over from exhaustion soon. Hope you have a fantastic weekend and Happy Easter!

Happy Reading!

    Thanks for the mention. :)

  • “I’m with Richard on most of this…I definitely missed the part where the constitution gives the Prez the right to fire a private company CEO”

It’s probably right below the clause that allows a private company with a book value of ~ -100B to siphon billions of dollars from taxpayers.

    :)

  • J. Money says:

Glad you enjoyed it! Buffett IS the man for sure, freakin’ genius :)

    @ Patrick – You’re most welcome!

@ kosmo – LOL…Ah yes, I remember now. Thanks for pointing that out! ;)

@ J – Dude, I love your whole site, lol, but the Buffett piece was very interesting indeed! Even if a fraction of those things are true, he’s still an awesome individual!

  • Thanks for the linklove! And I wanted to say a general thank you to you, for always leaving such thoughtful comments on my blog- they show such insight, it’s always a pleasure to read them.
