Readydebit Prepaid Visa Card Review

Submitted by CardMaster on February 12, 2009 – 10:48 amNo Comment

The Readydebit Prepaid Visa Card has the convenience and safety of a credit card, but it leaves out the late fees and interest charges. If you’re sick and tired of being burned by credit cards, read on…

What we like about it:

  • Safer than cash. All deposits are FDIC Insured, and you’re protected from fraudulent charges by Visa’s Zero Liability Guarantee. In addition, the money on your card can’t be accessed without a PIN. Stolen cards can be quickly cancelled and replaced if your wallet gets stolen.
  • More convenient than cash. Even though this isn’t a credit card, it is a Visa card, meaning you can use it for purchases and cash advances (e.g. ATM Withdrawals) just about everywhere – including online and overseas.
  • You can pay all your bills online. Anyone who could be paid with a check can be paid using the online bill pay service, and you’ll never get hit with an overdraft or bounced check fee.
  • Guaranteed approval. No credit checks are required to obtain this card.
  • Easy to use. You simply transfer as much or as little money from your bank account and you’re ready to go. You can also have your employer deposit your paycheck straight into your Readydebit account (direct deposit is free) or purchase a Green Dot ‘MoneyPak’.

What we don’t like about it:

  • There are still fees. The card has a monthly service fee of between $4.95 and $8.95 (depending on which program you choose), and you should expect to pay for ATM Withdrawals ($2.25 for domestic, $5 international) as well.

Conclusion:

Credit cards have started to fall out of favour recently, and often for good reason. If you find yourself consistantly keeping a revolving balan, you’re constantly being hit with late fees, or you’re just sick of credit cards, this card is definitely worth a look.
