Escape By Discover® Card Review
Boasting a generous travel rewards program, bonus miles, and a 0% interest rate on purchases and balance transfers, the Escape By Discover® Card is a great choice if you pay your bills on time and in full every month.
What we like about it:
- Earn up to 25,000 bonus miles. For the first 25 months you have the card, you’ll get 1000 free miles each month you make a purchase. 25,000 miles is equivelant to $250 worth of travel credit or $125 in cash.
- Enhanced Travel Features. As well as the standard Flight Accident Insurance, the Escape by Discover® Card comes with Primary Car Rental Insurance, Lost or Damaged Luggage Insurance, Travel Delay Insurance, and Trip Cancellation Insurance.
- 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers. Creditworthy applicants will receive an introductory rate of 0% on purchases and balance transfers for 6 months.
- Great travel rewards. Unlike most other travel rewards credit cards, the Escape card awards you with actual ‘travel credit’, which can be used on any flight, cruise, vacation package, hotel or car rental. Here’s an example: Let’s say you have 10,000 Miles available to redeem. You purchase a $200 airline ticket with your card. Once it posts to your account, you can redeem those points for a $100 travel rebate.
What we dont like about it:
- $60 Annual Fee.
Conclusion:
This new offering from Discover® is one of the best travel rewards cards on the market. The novel ‘travel credit’ rewards system is far more flexible then convential programs and will not ‘lock you in’ to specific providers. The bonus miles deal and the 0% introductory rates on purchases and balance transfers make this card an even more attractive prospect.

Five Cent Nickel just talked about this card, too. I like it and am now wavering on getting both this card and Amex Starwood card. I figure I can work the numbers where I can take a completely free trip at least once a year. We’ll see. I may just go with this one because of the 0% for 12 months where Amex gives you 2.99% for 6 months.
