Weekly Round-Up
Hello everyone! Hope you’ve all enjoyed your weekend and are looking forward to the new week ahead. I always like the beginning of a new week. It just feels like a clean slate in so many ways. Of course, I was sick most of last week and I’m still feeling under the weather (there’s something seriously going around), so the start to my week should be interesting. Nevertheless, I shall persevere! Hehe.
Anyway, here’s the roundup this week. One good thing that came from my being sick is that I got quite a bit of reading done!
- Dawn @ Fighting Foreclosure had a great post on what retirement meant to her. If you haven’t really thought about that question, there’s no time like the present!
- 444express has added some great bars to her site that are awesome! While she’s got great material to boot, I was so impressed with her bars and the progress she’s made, I’m sharing the WHOLE site with everyone! Stop by and say hello.
- Kelly @ Almost Frugal gives some tips on what to do when there’s more month than money. I don’t recommend these as a long term solution, but in a pinch, they’ll help.
- Clever Dude talks about how, sometimes, even us personal finance bloggers aren’t very frugal. I know I’m not always the best example. What about you guys?
- Cathy @ Chief Family Officer asks whether we really value financial security. As she points out, it comes down to priorities. What’s important to me isn’t necessarily so for others. While I personally like the feeling of being financially secure, it’s a balancing act of living life to the fullest and pinching pennies.
- FruGal has some great tips and advice before joining a gym. If you’re looking for a new gym or just in the market for one period, this is a good overview of what to look for!
- Mrs. Micah recently asked what work was beneath you. Personally, when times are hard and you’ve got a family to feed, I think you take what you can get. But, apparently there are those out there who believe otherwise. Interesting discussion.
- J. Money @ Budgets are Sexy talks about the Nazi-incarnate HOA’s telling people they can’t rent out their homes. Sorry, that’s probably not PC, but if you’ve followed this blog for a little while, you might recall I have serious issues with HOAs telling me what I can and can’t do with my home. But, apparently crappy renters devalue the neighborhood, etc. etc.
- Jeremy @ Generation X Finance breaks down the steps to keeping a pre-made salad fresh for an entire week…well, the lettuce anyway. It’s an awesome post and if you’re lettuce challenged like myself, it’s definitely worth a peek!
- J.D. @ Get Rich Slowly talks about your thrift habits and even shares an old instructional video. It’s a neat video, but it’s like ten minutes long. Still, has a lot of great information in it!
- Trent @ The Simple Dollar shares eight tactics to maximize what’s in the pantry. I will definitely be implementing a few of these myself as my pantry needs a good cleaning out.
There you have it folks! Happy reading!

:o) I’m giving my husband the biggest high-five for eating salad and sugar-free jello every day for lunch and losing 13 lbs. While I eat Oreos right next to him. Not very supportive, I know! :o/
