Kristy’s Weekly Roundup: The Birthday Edition
This week’s roundup will be fairly short as it’s my birthday this weekend and I have plans. So, happy birthday to me! Yay! It’s been a hectic day, too. I’ve been running errands and wrapping a few things up so I can enjoy the weekend fully. With that in mind, let’s get started!
Thanks to No Debt Plan for his link to my article on the difference in money market accounts. Also a big thanks to Fix My Personal Finance for including my Bank Collapse Survival Guide in the Money Hacks Carnival. Thank you to everyone else who has linked this week, as well.
So, on to what I’ve been reading this week!
- J.D. at Get Rich Slowly has a great post on how to save money on the wedding. I’ll be passing it along to my friend!
- Ginger from Girls Just Wanna Have Fun talks about how she’s not going to let the doom and gloom of the economy get her down. Bad things are happening, but not everything is out of our control!
- Living Almost Large talks about how customer service sucks these days! Ok, so I’m casting my perceptions on his article. But, what he’s really talking about is how stores seem to be scaling back on employees, leaving us to wait longer and longer for help. Part of the economy issues, or are companies just greedy? Interesting to think about.
- No Debt Plan rehashes the debate of whether it’s better to pay off debt or invest in this economy. Personally, I think it’s important to pay off your debts; however, I don’t condone neglecting your retirement. As long as you’re contributing to a 401(k) to the max employer match, then hold off on investments if you want while you pay off debt. But, if your employer doesn’t have a 401(k), you should be contributing a small amount – even 1% – while also paying off debt.
- Trent from The Simple Dollar has an oldie that I really liked. I stumbled upon it by accident, actually, but I think it was really lucky that I did! In this article, Trent talks about 10 things we can all do to increase our luck….make sure you check it out!
- Trees Full of Money has an article that everyone should read! TFM talks about HOW to build up a savings account, particularly in today’s economy. Good advice all around!
- Ashley over at Wide Open Wallet talks about the Fed cutting rates…again…and what that means for us. Do you think rate cuts are really going to help in this environment when banks are letting the loan well dry up? I’ll have a post about that coming up in the next few days! In the meantime, check out Ashley’s article!
Well, as I said, this week’s round up is going to be short. I hope everyone enjoys the links and their weekends. October is my favorite month, and not just because it’s my birthday. But, I love fall and intend to be outside enjoying as much as possible this weekend. I hope you guys do, too!
