Kristy’s Roundup: Here’s What I’m Reading
Normally Jonathan handles the roundups, but I think I’ll jump in and let you guys in on what I’m reading on the weekends. To everyone writing such fantastic posts, thanks for your insight. To everyone reading our posts, thanks for being here!
Without further adieu, let’s look at what’s on my reading agenda this weekend!
- A guest post over at Girls Just Wanna Have Funds talks about why women need to have their own mad money fund. I keep telling my sister this on a regular basis – she’s much too dependent on her husband – but this really applies to everyone, though. You never know what’s going to happen in life, so be prepared!
- Future Millionaire talks about the necessities for generous tipping over at Saving Savvy. I can tell you that I always tip well – even when the service is horrible. If I’m treated well, then we’re talking 40%. If the service was ok, nothing special, 20%. And if the service was just downright terrible, 15% - sometimes 10% if they really make me mad. The service industry is tough and people’s reactions are usually a reflection of how they’ve been treated. I like to think I might be making some small difference in that person’s day.
- Living Almost Large talks about money as an aphrodisiac. See, I’ve never really understood that myself. I personally would rather be with someone that makes me emotionally happy as opposed to materially happy. But, that could be because I can make myself materially happy. Regardless, the post was very interesting!
- Fabulously Broke talks about the feelings of inadequacy some of our friends can make us feel when they drop the big bucks and we live the frugal life. *sigh* I still think friends are some of the biggest reasons we get ourselves into debt!
- Xin Lu over at Wise Bread wonders why in the world anyone would pay their mortgage with a credit card. I have to agree. To me, that’s right up there with paying taxes on a credit card!
Hope everyone’s having a great weekend! Let me know what you thought of these posts and be sure to visit the sites for other great posts, as well!
[Note from Jonathan: Seb over at Pinching Copper did a great job hosting the Finance Fiesta last week - check it out here!]
