Jordan, I did not accidentally toss out the rebate coupon, as I never received a statement from American Express that month.

Update: I’m happy to report that American Express finally came through, and I received a duplicate Costco Rebate Coupon in mid-April, a little more than two weeks after I posted my first comment here!

American Express Costco TrueEarnings Card – Problems receiving my Costco rebate coupon!

I am an American Express Costco TrueEarnings Card member and I am upset that I have not yet received my Costco rebate coupon, which was supposed to be mailed to me during the first week in February, which is now over six weeks ago!

I have made three separate calls to the American Express Customer Service Department asking them to send me the rebate coupon, but I have been getting the runaround.

The first time I called (which was on February 23rd), I was told that I had to wait at least a month from the date that the coupon was issued before I could request a replacement. The second time I called (which was on March 6th), I was told that a replacement coupon would immediately be sent out and I would receive it within a week. The third time I called (which was on March 20th), I was told that I would have to wait another two weeks (no earlier than April 6th) before I could request a replacement of the replacement coupon!

I have verified that American Express has my current mailing address and telephone numbers on file.

This is outrageous! If it weren’t for that fact that I would lose the $69.00 coupon if I were to cancel my account right now, I would tell American Express to take their card and shove it!

I want American Express to IMMEDIATELY issue me my Costco rebate coupon. I do not wish to wait another two weeks before they will issue me a second replacement of the coupon which I should have received over six weeks ago!

I have an executive membership at Costco that costs $50 more a year and gives you 2% reward on Costco purchases. Has anyone found out how to see the accumulated rewards on-line and when the check will be sent? Thanks.

The Costco True Earnings Card ( AMEX ) is awesome. Our family has grown by two feet so you can imagine the costs associated for diapers and formula that we will be buying frequently.

I use the above card for everything such as fast food and Costco. I don’t use it for gas because I get a 5% rebate for gas with my Shell Mastercard.

I love like Jonathan using a card that will reward with me.

There is no loophole, they are seperate programs. Furthermore, everyone should at least try a executive membership for one year because it is risk free. If you dont break even, then ask for your money back at the end of the year. Simple as that.

Thanks for the tip, Elliot – I wasn’t aware of the different levels of Membership. As you say, this is really worthwhile for anyone spending over 50$ a week at Costco.

Having said that, I did some extra reading and it turns out the Executive Membership rebate is capped at $500. Granted, you would have to spend over $25,000 (!) to reach the cap – but I wonder if they’ve got a loophole in there that would enable them to apply the cap to your AMEX True Earnings purchases as well…

You may want to look into Executive Membership. It costs an extra $50/year, but you get an additional 2% back on purchases at Costco. If you’re really spending $200+ per month at Costco, you’re very close to the break-even point ($2500/year).
